Significance of Yugadi

Yugadi is thought as the first day of the Indian calendar. Actually the word Yugadi is made of 2 wordsYuga and Adi. Yuga means era and Adi means the beginning. So Yugadi means – Beginning of an era. Why does a day that comes every year called the beginning of an era? To answer this question, we have to dig deeper.

Second Self: Yours is a better lot than mine, brother, for it is given me to be this madman's joyous self. I laugh his laughter and sing his happy hours, and with thrice winged feet I dance his brighter thoughts. It is I that would rebel against my weary existence.

Why meditate? Why now? You already know that you are way too busy. So busy that you have become a stranger to yourself. All of us have paid so much attention to the world around us, that we know nothing about the world within us. Our life has kept us running - succeeding, failing, winning, and losing - this is all we seem to know. When we are not socializing with our friends and family, we are socializing with the Internet or the television.
